Smallville Season Finale

Epic.

A word I would use to some up an amazing episode of Smallville. But Im not. It was just pretty good.

Seem's Lex's army plotine is over with the snap of the fingers. He just left them there once the kid went resident evil on him. There should have been more thought there or at least a hint hat we'd see more of Lex's army in teh future, but that storyline looks dead in the water now.

Clark tells Lana his origin story! Fina-fucking-lly. Theres not much impact though because we've seen this exchange a hundred times before in those one-off episodes in different dimension/time/what if/bullshit things. lana says she's leaving and leaves. You'd think he'd call after her and stop her, but Clarks a man's man. She can go to hell. To which she does, because 5 minutes later she gets blown to shit.Car bomb and all that, seemingly planted by Lex. But we all know shes alive due to the clever machanic of having a ice cream truck obscure Lana getting into her car. I think we can assume she's alive. Shit.

Lois fuck's about in this episode as always and gets stabbed hunting down Lex's secret's for the #9123232 time. Chloe comes to the rescue but Lois looks dead. Yes! No more manly face to look at and go "ugh, thats Supermans love interest at some point". Chloe uses her "power" and brings back Lois from the dead. shit. And as a consequence, Chloe is now dead. SHIT. Fucking Lois Lane man. Chloe, who is far superior to that manly rug muncher, is dead. This finale has gone tits-up.

Anyway, turns out Clark is the martian-manhunter (a character who shouldnt be there at all, why the fuck is he there? honestly?) is Clarks gaurdian. *sigh*. Fucking writers of this show man. If he was his gaurdian wouldnt he have showed up 3 seasons ago with the zod storyline? The time when he might have been actually usefull?

Anyway, the phantom and Clark meet and the Phantom hurls itself at Clark. Instead of making Clark its host however, it Turns into a bad version of Clark.They fight for awhile and its pretty sweet. Turns out this cat is Bizarro. Bizarro of all the fucking people. Fucking writers man.

Anyway, the show left itself on a cliffhanger and we dont know whats going to happen. Thats what the writers thinka anyway. were not that stupid though. They'll all make it out safe. I fucking garauntee that.

The whole episode felt like it was just tieing up all the loose ends to dump the storylines for a fresh show next season. It failed at a few things though, namely killing Lana when we know shes not dea,killing chloe when we know shes not dead and introducing martian manhunter as Clarks gaurdian. The scene where Clark told Lana everything could have been better. Alot better. It needed more that just hammy lines and a kiss. It needed power. Writers failed.

Roll On new season.

Heroes season finale review : part 1 of 4

So yes, due to the shitty negotiations between the WGA and those greedy bastards at various television networks, Heroes ended after 11 mediocre episodes. Yeah, mediocre. They weren't the best weekly 40 minutes ill remember when Im about to die in my sickbed with my relatives around me. The last episode was about as fun to watch as a horse getting a handjob.

Lets review shall we?

So the episode opens up with with Mohinder “Im about as interesting to watch as a limp cock” Suresh walks into his appartment to find sylar, a character misused this season, in his 1930's wooden desk chair. Mohinder reacts with the same reaction he uses for everything. He'd probably have the same face if I mixed terracotta and beige paint while decorating his appartment. But it turns out that all that driving and brooding/posing sylar has done all season has made him a bit peckish, and Maya is cooking some lunch. God bless that maya, she may be as thick as the walls in a bank, but she can always cook up a storm. Why shes wearing an apron that says “world's greatest dad” is anyones guess. Anyway, after sylar shows his true colours, Maya realises that Sylar is a prick and does that whole “black eyes” thing. Sylar manages to stop her using a child. What a top noch fellow

Next, were with Matt, Nathan and Nathans “im in menopause” mother. Nathan mentions that peters alive, obviously forgetting to tell her that before. Telling my mother her son was alive would slip my mind too. Nathan mum then tells them about Adam/dickens and his plans,how she helped him. She tells them its in primatech paper and they fly off. Fucking literally.

Now, the scene that I hate. Peter and Adam/dickens somehow stroll right into primatech paper, without a single soul asking why they're there. I wish I could just stroll into places without getting bothered about why im there, but im not the awesome peter petrelli or the dickless Adam/kensei. Hiro shows up and he and pete argue about kensei's fate. While Hero points out some things about Adam, to which peter should have copped on too by now, peter decides to save the British git. Peter then knocks out Hiro and re-starts time and once again the workers fail to notice a now unconscious Asian man with a sword in the middle of the floor.

University of London researchers, Birgitte Andersen and Marion Frenz surveyed a large group of Canadians to find out what the effect of piracy is on music sales. The results are surprising, at least, for the music industry.

The researchers conclude that that people who download more music actually buy more CDs. They report: “We estimate that the effect of one additional P2P download per month is to increase music purchasing by 0.44 CDs per year.”

This basically means that if someone downloads 270 songs a year via BitTorrent, he or she will buy 9 CDs more than someone who only downloads 27 songs. So, in a way illegal downloads actually convert into more CD sales.

Well, If that doesnt encourage you to download without guilt I dont know what will.

It turns out no-one can make a windows XP theme to save their lives. Ive scoured the internet and I cant find ONE, not fucking ONE that is in anyway nice to look at. I do, however, love the gnome themes. Ubuntu's is sexy. Clearklooks is design heaven for me.

Recently ive been really wanting to install Ubuntu and Dual-boot windows and ubuntu, but im afraid of GRUB fucking up or me fucking up and overwriting my windows partition. I want Ubuntu so much it hurts.Why cant there be a totally safe and secure way of doing this?

Im not abandoning windows because I need it for some things, and im pretty sure I wont use ubuntu that much anyway, but a change of scenery is always nice.

Firefox has failed me

For the past while, Firefox has annoyed me with the little things. Its slow to load up at the start sometimes, Its buggy with tabs sometimes, has problems loading javascript and ajax and now It cant fucking play quicktime movies in the browser.

This seriously pisses me off. Opera doesnt have one problem doing any of that, but i stick by Firefox because its got the best extensions and plugins and I like to support the open source cause.

Firefox 3 better have all of this fixed and have that memory leak problem fixed too, otherwise im switching to Opera permanently.

Just got to stick this annoyance out until whenever they release it, which looks like the end of the year (hopefully).

Ive also been working on a secret project called "UNIVRSE", which isnt really secret, but i dont want to go into detail about it if its not going to happen.

The Summer is in a horrible weather filled full swing and I still dont have a job. Not that I really want one, I just need cash to buy things. I mean ive put out CV's to loads of places, Looked up jobs and even did a sort of Indian rain-dance to summon up some sort of low paying shit heap of a job, but nothing. Its almost as if they were tipped off about me being a lazy bastard. Its already a month into the holidays and If I dont get a job ill by the end ill go nuts. Im contemplating climbing a clock tower with a rifle and a list of names.

I guess all I can do is hand out more CV's and call a few places. You wont catch me behind a "fast food" counter though.Couldn't stand having to take people's orders all day without going "Em, sir. Listen im going to have to tell you that this food will lead to high blood pressure, Obecity and a horrible heart atack later in life. But, I guess, by the look fo you your already half way there".The only job I can think of that id be well suited for and love is working in a video-shopee. Seriously. I have an un-healthy obsession with movies so im perfect and I get free rentals, watch movies in there, possible internet access and I can laugh at peoples choice in film. perfect-o.

Bring me the Horizon

April is crawling to an end and the Summer is near. Yes my children, Summer holidays is on the Horizon.

Most of my month has been spent doing the usual stuff. Studying being an annoying part of that equation. Im not much of a studier so its hard for me, but I really want a good mark this year so ill give it my all. I Finished Lunar Park last night, after only been reading a few chapters a day, and I thought it was Bret Easton Ellis' best work of his so far. The fact that its a faux Autobiography, but written with a great attention to detail and subtle afterthoughts, makes it better to me than American Psycho. Its not a boring book by any means. Murders, Horror and family values of all things makes the thing a page turner. Fans of American psycho should love it and I reccommend it to anyone. If you've never heard of Bret Easton Ellis pick up something by him.

This month has been a bit shit in that I can never get into town to pick up a few trades from ye old Comic shop. Its both lazyness on my part and lack of cash. I did however pick up Batman #664 and Batman : Detective comics #831.
Batman #664 was alright. Im not a huge fan of Grant Morrison and the story was a little slow. It tied a few loose ends for the batman and son story then rushed into a new one which made the story a little thin. The artwork annoying for both heavy line work and was a bordering cartoony.
Batman Dectective stories #831 was great. Paul Dini can successfully do a whole story in one issue and since he's doing countdown ill be picking it up. The artwork was pretty darn good if not for the awkward mouth movements. Good read anyway.

I didnt set out to get these, I had gone to get World War Hulk but they didnt have it on yet and any back issues of All star Batman and Robin were sold out. There wasnt much else that interested me so i grabbed those. I wanted Amazing spiderman too but they were delayed. piss.

Well Thats all I got for now. You never know though, you might get a drunken rant by saturday night.
